Heading levels give you the power to add structure and organization to your training content, making it easier to scan and review.

Headings create a hierarchical information structure, breaking large portions of content into manageable chunks. Ideally, a learner should be able to see what your training is about by the progression of headings alone. Headings also give additional navigation options to screen reader users, enhancing accessibility.

Pro tip: While you might select a heading type based on appearance, it's important to maintain a logical flow by not skipping heading levels.

Rise employs Heading 1 for lesson titles, Heading 2 for block headings, and Heading 3 for subheadings. You can't change the heading level of a heading or subheading, but you can format text in Rise to be one of four different heading levels:

  • Heading 2

  • Heading 3

  • Heading 4

  • Heading 5

To change the heading level, select your text and choose the appropriate option from the Paragraph Format drop-down menu in the formatting toolbar.

If you’d like to reset the heading level of your text to the default format, select the Normal option at the top of the menu.

Note: Heading levels are in the formatting toolbar for most block types that support rich text. For process, accordion, timeline, and chart blocks, they're available via the block format menu.
