Personalize your Rise courses by uploading your own custom fonts for headings and body text. Keep reading to learn how.

Preparing Your Font Files for Rise

Your fonts must be in WOFF files to work with Rise. If you already have WOFF files, you can skip to the next section and upload them directly to Rise.

Note: At this time, we don't support WOFF2 files.

If your fonts are in other file formats, such as OTF or TTF, you’ll need to convert them to WOFF files first. You can use any webfont generator but, if you'll be translating your content into multiple languages, we recommend Transfonter. The following instructions are for the free converter at Transfonter.

  1. Launch Transfonter in your web browser.

  2. Click Upload Fonts.

  3. Browse to the font files on your computer and click Open. (You can convert multiple font files at the same time by holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard as you select your font files.)

  4. Deselect the WOFF2 option. If you're using a custom font to display non-latin characters, choose the language-specific subset.

  5. Click Convert.

  6. Once processing is finished, click Download.

  7. Save and extract the zip file on your computer. It’ll contain several files. You’ll upload the ones with a WOFF file extension to Rise. See the next section for details.

Tip: Use the demo file included in the download package to ensure any non-standard characters display as expected.

Uploading Fonts to Rise

You can upload custom fonts to Rise from any of your courses, and they’ll be available in all other courses you create.

  1. Go to your Create dashboard and click a card to edit the course.

  2. Click Theme in the upper right corner of the course editor.

  3. Click Fonts.

  4. Select the More tab.

  5. Select Manage Custom Fonts.

  6. Click Add Custom Font on the screen that appears.

  7. Enter a name for your custom font. (This is the name that will show in the font selectors in Rise.)

  8. Click the Regular, Bold, and Italic buttons and select a WOFF file from your computer. You don’t have to upload a WOFF file for all three categories, but you must upload at least a regular-weight font.

  9. Click Save to commit your changes.

  10. Click Back to return to the font menu or repeat the process for additional custom fonts.

  11. After uploading a custom font, you can apply it in any course you create. See the next section for details.
