To create a new Rise course from scratch, click New Course at the top of your Rise dashboard. When the Create New dashboard loads, click the Blank course button in the upper right.

Tip: If you'd like to start building your course with prebuilt content, click here to learn more.

When the course editor opens, you’ll see an empty course template like the one shown below.

Use the following image and numbered list to learn about each feature of the course editor.

1. Return to Your Dashboard

Click the grid icon in the upper left corner of the course editor to return to your dashboard.

2. Add a Title

Enter a title for your course in the Course Title placeholder—up to 100 characters. Your text will be saved automatically as you type.

3. Show or Hide the Author

By default, your profile picture and name will appear as the course author.

If you’d prefer to hide the author for the entire course, click the drop-down arrow beside your name and choose Hide Author.

You also have the option to hide the author for individual lessons in the course. See this user guide for details.

You can change your profile picture and name in your Rise profile.

4. Change the Accent Color

The accent color for your course is displayed below the title and author.

The accent color appears throughout your course and gives it a consistent design. It’s used for buttons, hyperlinks, lesson status icons, radio buttons, checkboxes, and more.

You can change the accent color in the course settings. Click here for details.

5. Enter a Description

A course description isn’t required, but if you’d like to give learners a brief overview of the course, just type a summary in the Describe Your Course placeholder.

The course description appears on the course overview page above the course outline.

6. Outline Your Course

The next step in building a Rise course is to create an outline with section headers and lesson titles.

After outlining your course, choose lesson and block types.

Then, add text and media to your lessons and blocks.

7. Customize and Share Your Course

Customize your course settings, including the theme, navigation, text labels, and collaborators.
